Due to the fact this watch is rather special and we are very proud to list it and had serious impact on the divers watch shape and form because it was the first one ever in the same we are used to now, so we have decided to write a few lines about it.

In the beginning of 1950’s French military divers were frustrated about the current divers watches at the time so they decided to sketch how the watch should looks like and which parameters it should have. With those requirement they approached few well established watch brands including LIP and they all refused because they thought it is impossible to make and it would not sell well. The only company which agreed to try to produce such watch was quite small company at that time but the oldest of them all. It was actually a coincidence because current CEO of Blancpain was recreational diver himself so he thought it would be cool to have proper watch for diving. The main requirements were proper luminiscence so you can see the time left for abyss - oxygen left, rotating bezel to set the countdown and water resistance to fifthy fathoms (91,5m), hence the name fifty fathoms. In the year 1953 the first divers watch Blancpain Fifty Fathoms was born. The watch was so great that later on Spanish, German and US army commissioned Blancpain to manufacture them their own models.

Our particular model is made out of titanium, there is currently only one available on the market in EU, it has power reserve of 120 hours (5 days) and has one of the most advance watch movement among divers watches.
